The prestigious collection of Agapants in the Gardens of Villa della Pergola, which between June and July transforms Alassio into the European Capital of Agapants, has reawakened and has begun, thanks to its spectacular flowering, to amaze the visitors of the Park, winner of the "The most beautiful Garden of Italy 2022" award.
The Gardens, which this year celebrate their eighteenth anniversary since their rescue, are in Alassio, Liguria, and host a unique collection.
Thanks to thousands of specimens of this spectacular flower, which fade from white to intense blue, passing through shades of light blue and purple, it is considered the largest and most important collection in Europe for its vastness and different varieties: over 500, all certified by the SOI , the Italian Horticultural and Fruit and Vegetable Society. A flower, the agapanthus, which already from its name symbolizes love, beauty and fertility: the etymology is in fact precious, deriving from two Greek words: Agape, love and anthos, flower: the "flower of love ”.
In this period, until July, during the dedicated guided tours entitled "A sea of Agapanti and the history of Villa della Pergola and its collections" you can walk among the natural wonders of the Park accompanied by our precious guides/gardeners , surrounded by a rare and unforgettable natural setting.
