Villa della Pergola in Alassio enters the Olympus of Italian hospitality at The St. Regis Rome, the historic five-star luxury hotel in the capital, where the 50 best Italian hotels of the year were revealed as part of the Travel + Leisure Italy's Best Awards 2025, the only one in Liguria.
On Monday, November 24th in Rome, under the frescoed vault of the splendid Ritz Hall of The St. Regis Rome, the historic five-star luxury hotel in the capital, in front of the excellence of Italian hospitality, Villa della Pergola was named among the 50 best hotels of the year during the first edition of the Travel + Leisure Italy's Best Awards 2025, an award ceremony organized by Travel + Leisure Italia - presented by Francesca Romana Barberini and Federico De Cesare Viola, editor-in-chief of the magazine.
A celebration of Italy as a symbolic destination for luxury hotels and the art of high-level hospitality, which crowns Villa della Pergola, unique in Liguria, in an exclusive club of historic and prestigious Italian hotels.
The selection was the result of independent evaluations by the Italian and US editorial staff, according to criteria that took into account the quality of the overall guest experience: these include the importance of the hotel in the context of the destination, the quality and uniqueness of the architecture and design, the punctuality and professionalism of the service, the value of the food and wine offerings and mixed drinks, the spa and wellness programs, and good sustainability and social responsibility practices.
Already described as "an extraordinary example of heritage protection and enhancement," Villa della Pergola receives further recognition for its commitment to increasingly focusing its offering on guests and providing an exclusive, unique, and personalized experience, for refined hospitality now recognized at the highest levels.
"We are very proud of this recognition, which recognizes our ongoing work behind the Villa della Pergola project. It's an example of hospitality excellence that increasingly demonstrates," says Alessandra Ricci, "that love and care for the local area, its culture, the promotion of its history, and its preservation are the path to follow. And this recognition confirms that".
2026 will mark the twentieth anniversary of the rescue of Villa della Pergola, which, thanks to my family, prevented its loss due to potential real estate speculation: a story of resistance and resilience that today finds new strength in the goals achieved in these twenty years.
Last but not least, this year the Gardens of Villa della Pergola have joined the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society as a Partner Garden, the most important botanical institution in the world presided over by King Charles III of England, a major botanical achievement for Alassio and the entire region.
This confirms an increasingly aware and sustainable tourism and its growing attention towards independent businesses and authentic experiences, which lead to the rediscovery of culturally rooted territories, towns and villages.
