The unmissable guided tours of the famous Alassio Park are back, starting this year with an incredible new recognition at a global level: the Gardens are Partner Garden of the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society.
In the Gardens that won the award “The most beautiful park in Italy”, in a triumph of greenery, colors and scents, the wisterias are ready to amaze, forming the most important Italian collection here.
The famous collection of Wisteria, known nationally and internationally and a destination for visitors and enthusiasts who come to the Gardens from all over at this time of year, is once again open to visitors.
Wisteria has a deep connection with Villa della Pergola: in fact, it was much loved by both the Dalrymples and the Hanburys, renowned Scottish and English families who took turns in owning this place and wrote its history.
The Dalrymples still have photo albums from the early 1900s with shots, accompanied by the caption “Wisteria Showing”, which every year testified to the flowering of the wisteria on the main staircase, now centuries-old and still offering a unique spectacle.
For the Hanbury family, this represented a very important and symbolic moment, so much so that every year they celebrated these poetic flowers with an eagerly awaited “Wisteria Party”, organized by Ruth, Daniel’s wife, which was attended by the city authorities of Alassio and the English community”.
